DHORDO, KUTCH, GUJARAT, INDIA – Residents of the UAE and the wider Gulf know desert landscapes well, but few look like the white Rann of Kutch in winter: a flat, salt-white plain that stretches to the horizon and glows under a full moon. Namak resort, a boutique tent resort near Dhordo in Gujarat, is hosting travellers from the region through the November 2026 to February 2027 season, a short flight away via Ahmedabad or Bhuj.
Namak sits on the Khavda-Dhordo Road, close to the salt flats and the Rann Utsav festival, which brings Kutchi music, food and craft to Dhordo each winter. The resort keeps to just 21 stays: ten premium tents, ten Super Premium Tents and one Darbari Suite, finished in patterned canvas, timber and warm textiles.
Prices are per tent per night for two guests. Premium Tents start at Rs 8,500 plus GST and Super Premium Tents at Rs 10,500 plus GST, with breakfast, hi-tea, dinner and an evening cultural programme included. The Darbari Suite, at Rs 28,000 plus GST, adds all meals, priority check-in, and pickup, drop-off, sightseeing and transfers as per the confirmed itinerary. Travellers can see the details on Namak’s tent stay rates page.
Days near Dhordo can include sunrise on the salt, the Road to Heaven causeway, the view from Kala Dungar, and visits to Hodka and Nirona, villages known for embroidery, Rogan painting and lacquer work. Dhordo was named a Best Tourism Village by UN Tourism in 2023.
“Guests who live with the desert every day are often surprised by how different the White Rann feels, especially on a quiet moonlit night,” said the Namak team. “We keep Namak small so that the evenings stay calm and personal.”
Full-moon nights and 18-31 December carry a seasonal surcharge and fill early. More on the setting is available at Namak’s tents near the White Rann.
