Düsseldorf (Germany) hosts the second of three consecutive European Premier Padel tournaments. Following Rotterdam, another P2 is next, with the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1 completing the series next week. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia on the men’s side, and Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero on the women’s side, arrive in strong form after their back-to-back titles in Paris and Rotterdam. However, the two pairs defending their titles in Germany will be Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan among the men, and Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay among the women.
MEN In the 28-pair men’s draw, Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz — finalists in Rotterdam — return as the number 4 seeds. Coello and Tapia will make their debut against a qualifying pair or Diestro/Sintes, while Chingotto and Galan will face Garrido/De Pascual or Garcia/Ruiz. Goenaga/Collado or Jofre/Esbri, the latter having won the FIP Gold Mediolanum Padel Cup in Perugia on Sunday, will be the first opponents for Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger (3). Stupaczuk and Sanz will face the German wild cards Lindmeyer/Wunner or a pair coming through qualifying. These are the potential quarter-finals: Coello/Tapia (1)-Guerrero/Leal (7), Gonzalez/Campagnolo (8)-Lebron/Augsburger (3), Stupaczuk/Sanz (4)-Navarro/Di Nenno (5), Nieto/Yanguas (6)-Chingotto/Galan (2).
WOMEN In the women’s draw, the top eight pairs will make their debuts on Thursday in the round of 16, with Delfi and Gemma beginning their title defence against Montes/Barrera or a qualifying pair/lucky loser. Manquillo/Sainz or Saiz/Talavan (with Sainz and Saiz having been partners until last week) will be the first opponents for Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez, drawn in the bottom half alongside Claudia Fernandez and Martina Calvo. In the top half are, among others, the Paris and Rotterdam champions Sanchez and Ustero (debuting against Velasco/Eugenio or Collombon/Ksarifova) and Claudia Jensen, who, following Tamara Icardo’s injury, will play at CASTELLO in Düsseldorf alongside Noa Canovas. Potential quarter-finals: Brea/Triay (1)-Jensen/Canovas (8), Salazar/Osoro (7)-Sanchez/Ustero (3), Fernandez/Calvo (4)-Ortega/Araujo (5), Guinart/Alonso (6)-Josemaria/Gonzalez (2).
