Accreditation reinforces international recognition, player development pathways, and world-class operational standards

Doha, Qatar – 10 May 2026 – Qatar Polo Club (QPC) has officially been accredited by the Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA), the internationally recognised authority governing the rules and standards of polo in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and one of the most respected institutions in the sport globally.

This achievement marks a major milestone for Qatar Polo Club, following the successful completion of all accreditation requirements and procedures. More than a formal recognition, the HPA accreditation represents a strategic advancement that enhances the Club’s technical excellence, operational standards, and international positioning.

Through this accreditation, Qatar Polo Club gains immediate global recognition for its adherence to internationally established standards. This strengthens its ability to attract international players, teams, and competitions, while ensuring that all sporting practices and tournament regulations align with those adopted across leading polo nations.

A key benefit of the accreditation is the Club’s ability to issue and manage officially recognised player handicaps. This enables players to compete internationally with validated rankings, supporting their progression within the global polo ecosystem and removing barriers to participation in international tournaments.

The accreditation further reinforces the Club’s commitment to governance, officiating, and safety. By adopting HPA regulations, Qatar Polo Club will benefit from continuous updates to the rules of the game, access to internationally certified referees, and structured training programmes aimed at developing local officiating capabilities.

In parallel, the Club adheres to strict pony welfare standards, aligned with HPA requirements, ensuring the highest levels of care, ethical treatment, and veterinary oversight. This reflects Qatar Polo Club’s commitment not only to sporting excellence but also to responsible and sustainable practices within the sport.

From an operational and commercial perspective, the accreditation enhances the Club’s ability to organise international-standard tournaments, attract global partnerships and sponsorships, and further position Qatar as an emerging destination on the international polo map.

Commenting on the achievement, Ashraf Abu Issa, Chairman of Qatar Polo Club, said: “This accreditation represents a defining milestone for Qatar Polo Club and reflects our commitment to excellence across all aspects of the sport. Aligning with the Hurlingham Polo Association’s internationally recognised standards strengthens our position globally and supports our vision of establishing Qatar as a leading destination for polo.”

Fuad Al-Mudahka, Director General of Qatar Polo Club, added: “This achievement is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our team. The HPA accreditation enables us to operate at the highest international standards, from player development and officiating to tournament delivery and horse welfare and will play a key role in advancing the sport both locally and internationally.”

This milestone marks a new phase for Qatar Polo Club as it continues to expand its international presence, strengthen its competitive platform, and contribute to the long-term development of polo in Qatar and the wider region.

Miracles happen at the Foro Italico, and Giulia Dal Pozzo seems to be producing them. The left-hander who is learning how to become a champion is clearly no longer satisfied with simply breaking Italian records. Less than 24 hours after becoming the first Italian woman ever to reach the quarter-finals of a Major, the player from Romagna and her Spanish partner Nuria Rodriguez delivered another masterpiece, earning a place in the semi-finals of the BNL Italy Major after defeating, and ultimately overwhelming, Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo, ranked No. 6 and No. 8 respectively in the FIP world rankings.
