Qatar Classic to be staged at longtime home of the Qatar Masters

Dubai, UAE – 12 February, 2026: The MENA Golf Tour continues its expansion across the region with the announcement of the Qatar Classic, a new event to be held at the prestigious <a href="https://gulfeyenews.com/raffles-doha-named-five-star-hotel-in-forbes-travel-guides-2026-star-awards/”>Doha Golf Club from 23-25 March 2026.

The tournament marks the Tour’s return to Qatar, where it previously staged an event at Doha Golf Club in 2013. It will serve as the penultimate event on the schedule, offering USD $100,000 in prize money and Official World Golf Ranking points as players make their final push for Order of Merit positions ahead of the season finale.

Doha Golf Club has a rich tournament heritage, having hosted the Qatar Masters on the DP World Tour for many years. The championship course has witnessed victories from some of the game’s biggest names and provides a world-class test that will challenge the field.

MENA Golf Tour Chairman and Commissioner Keith Waters welcomed the return to Qatar.

‘Returning to Qatar is a significant moment for the MENA Golf Tour,’ said Waters. ‘Doha Golf Club is a venue with incredible pedigree, having hosted world-class professional golf for many years. Our players will compete on the same fairways that have tested the best in the game, and we’re delighted to bring OWGR-recognised competition back to Qatar through this partnership with the Qatar Golf Association.’

Hamad Abdulla Al Mana, President of the Qatar Golf Association, said the event represents an important step for golf development in the country.

'We are proud to welcome the MENA Golf Tour back to Qatar,' said Al Mana

‘This partnership aligns with our vision to grow the game at all levels and provide pathways for aspiring professionals in our region. Doha Golf Club has a distinguished history of hosting international events, and we look forward to adding the Qatar Classic to that legacy.’

The tournament holds special significance for current MENA Golf Tour Rankings leader Chris Wood, who is a past champion at Doha Golf Club, having won the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters on the DP World Tour.

‘Doha Golf Club is a course I know well and have great memories of,’ said Wood. ‘Winning the Qatar Masters there was a special moment in my career, so to return with the MENA Golf Tour is exciting. It’s a proper championship test that rewards good ball-striking, and I’m looking forward to competing there again as we head into the business end of the season.’

The Qatar Classic joins a schedule that has seen the MENA Golf Tour deliver events across Portugal, Egypt, Morocco and Jordan in its relaunched 2025-26 season. The Tour offers $100,000 prize funds at each event, 54-hole formats, and crucial Official World Golf Ranking points.
