Doha, Sunday – 23 August 2026 – Qatar Insurance (QIC), the leading insurer in Qatar and the MENA region, has concluded its 2026 Summer Internship Program, which ran from June through August and provided a group of high-achieving high school students from institution in Qatar with an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the insurance and financial services sector.

The program forms part of QIC’s ongoing efforts to provide students with early exposure to the professional environment and help them better understand the opportunities available within the insurance industry. Selected based on their academic performance and interest in developing their knowledge of the sector, the interns spent the summer learning from QIC professionals across a range of business and corporate functions.

As part of the program, students were introduced to key areas of QIC’s operations, including underwriting, claims, customer experience, and risk analysis. They also gained an understanding of the role played by departments such as information technology, human resources and legal affairs in supporting the wider business.

Beyond their day to day learning, the interns participated in workshops, practical activities, and group assignments designed to encourage them to work together, exchange ideas and put their learning into practice. The experience also focused on developing practical skills that will benefit the students as they progress through their education and begin considering their future career paths.

Commenting on the program, Mr. Rashid Al-Buainain, Group Chief Administrative Officer at QIC, said, “Developing Qatar’s human capital starts with giving young people the right opportunities to learn, gain experience and understand the world of work. At QIC, we are proud to support this through our summer internship program, which gives students an early introduction to the insurance sector while helping them develop important skills and confidence. This commitment to young talent reflects our responsibility as a national institution and supports Qatar’s broader goals for developing a capable and future-ready workforce.”

    Student Reflections

Khalid Mohamed A A Ahmedi, one of the interns, said, “I am truly grateful for the opportunity to intern at QIC this summer. I gained a better understanding of how the insurance business operates and how different teams contribute to its day-to-day activities. I also learned the importance of being organised, paying attention to detail, and taking responsibility for my work. The experience gave me practical knowledge that I can carry forward into my studies and future career.”

Saoud Mohammed A B Al-Buainain said, “During my internship at QIC, I learned more about how the insurance industry works and how different departments contribute to the business. I also learned how important communication, teamwork, and being responsible are in the workplace. The experience gave me a better understanding of what to expect in a professional environment and will help me as I continue my studies and plan for my future.”
