Raffles Doha’s signature Italian restaurant secured its first Michelin star, while Head Chef Cristhian Serraino brought home the prestigious Young Chef Award

Doha, Qatar: Alba, Raffles Doha’s signature Italian restaurant, was just awarded the coveted One Michelin Star, becoming one of only three restaurants in Doha to claim this culinary honour and the only star awarded in 2025. It was a night of double celebration for Alba at the Michelin Guide Ceremony held on 9th December, as the restaurant’s Head Chef Cristhian Serraino also won the Young Chef Award.

The two awards are significant milestones for Alba, which was previously listed in the 2024 Michelin Guide.

The Italian dining venue is popular among both local connoisseurs and international visitors. Alba is an entirely homegrown culinary concept, specifically created for Raffles Doha. Its name, inspired by the renowned Northern Italian town famous for white truffles, reflects a dedication to bringing the rich gastronomic heritage of the region to life in Qatar. The restaurant’s philosophy centers on pure simplicity and bespoke dining, ensuring an authentic Italian experience that is exclusive to Raffles as a destination.

‘This is a moment of profound pride, not just for Alba, but for Raffles and the entire Katara Towers team. Securing the only One Michelin Star in 2025 for this unique concept, coupled with the Young Chef Award for Chef Cristhian, is recognition of the dedication and effort of the whole team in Alba and the culture of the hotels.’ said Andrew Steele, Managing Director of Raffles Doha and Fairmont Doha. ‘This success, coming shortly after Raffles Doha was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Five Star Hotel of the Year as well as Randy Santos winning Leading Chief Concierge of the Year at the recent Qatar Tourism Awards. This powerfully affirms our teams culture and dedication to providing an unparalleled ultra-luxury experiences to our valued guests across all aspects of our services.’

Chef Serraino’s menu at Alba is inspired by the rich gastronomic heritage of northern Italy, reimagined through a modern lens. The specially curated Chef’s Table experiences lets diners sit close to the action and witness Chef Cristhian’s culinary artistry up-close. Commenting on his double win, Chef Cristhian Serraino said: ‘I am honoured to receive two Michelin recognitions on the same night. It is a moment of immense pride. What makes this so special is that Alba is our homegrown concept. This recognition truly belongs to my entire team of dedicated chefs and staff and validates our passion for delivering authentic, creatively modern Italian cuisine. We would love to welcome guests to experience our special culinary creations.’

A graduate of the Nino Bergese Culinary School in Genova, Italy, Chef Cristhian brings more than 15 years of experience working in acclaimed kitchens around Europe and the Middle East.

This dual recognition from the Michelin Guide could not have come at a better time, as the city is gearing up for the festive season, making Alba a perfect venue for diners in search of a personal and authentic Michelin-level experience.
