Qatar university (qu) recently organised the fifth youth research forum 2023 in collaboration with several local and international partners. the forum focused on“higher education institutions’ role in achieving sustainable development goals.”

the forum brought together students interested in research from different fields worldwide. the forum also included a session for research posters, where participants presented their projects related to the forum’s theme. the posters covered diverse topics such as sustainable energy, sustainable agriculture, sustainable transportation, and sustainable cities.

the forum provided a platform for participants to present their research findings, exchange ideas, and discuss the role of higher education institutions in achieving the sustainable development goals (sdgs). the sdgs consist of a set of seven global goals identified by the united nations general assembly in 2015 to be achieved by 2030. the sdgs cover a range of issues such as poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation, and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, and peace and justice.

the forum achieved great success, providing the participants with the opportunity to share their research findings and learn from others’ experiences.

the forum also provided an excellent platform for networking and collaborating among the participants. the forum received 276 research abstracts and posters, of which 186 met the necessary requirements for participation. the accepted submissions included 36 abstracts and posters from 17 countries, including qatar, kuwait, oman, the uae, yemen, morocco, egypt, libya, jordan, palestine, iran, mauritania, tajikistan, sweden, italy, canada, russia, and others.

among all the participants, a team of faculty members and students from the college of dental medicine (cdem) at qu won the recent competition by presenting their research posters titled“the relationship between oral health and stomach cancer: a systematic review.”
